A Welcome to Our New Pastor!

Monday afternoon we were happy to have the new pastor of St. Teresa of Avila Parish, Fr. Brian Plate, for a visit in our monastery parlor.

Summit has a high Catholic population but it has only had one parish church. St. Teresa's just happens to be right now the street from us. We can see the church roof and steeple from the enclosure.

St. Teresa's is a vibrant and busy parish. As we have mentioned in the past, we host parishioners for 2 afternoons and evenings, Wednesday and Thursday, for adoration. They are always looking for extra adorers so if you live in the area we invite you to sign up!

We had a enjoyable visit. Fr. Plate brought along Msgr. Gunther, recently retired pastor of St. Ann's in Wycoff, NJ, who is now in residence here at St. Teresa's. Msgr. Gunther was vocation director when Fr. Plate entered the seminary. Fr. Plate recently finished 6 years as vocation director for the archdiocese.

We warmly welcome both Fr. Plate and Msgr. Gunther to Summit and assure them of our prayerful support!

You can't tell by this photo but the parlor was packed with nuns!
