Counting Down to Jubilee 800!

Or rather, should we say counting UP! At Compline we will begin our novena in preparation for the opening of our 800th anniversary, invoking the Holy Spirit and praying that our hearts and minds will be open to the many gifts of grace that the Lord has in store for each nun, the monastery, the Order, the Church and the world. (Did we forget anyone?)

On the practical side, Sr. Mary Martin has scheduled a committee meeting so that we can do the final strategic planning for our Solemn Vespers the evening of the the December 2nd which will "open" our jubilee celebration. We've invited the local Dominican family to pray and celebrate with us. A bigger celebration will probably take place in the spring.

JUBILEE PRAYER

Father of Mercy, in your eternal Wisdom, you called your servant Dominic to set off on a journey of faith as itinerant pilgrim and Preacher of Grace. With your Word of gentle Truth in his heart and on his lips, Dominic invited the first sisters and brothers to join him in a life of contemplative obedience in the service of the holy preaching.

As we commemorate this Jubilee, we ask you to breathe the Spirit of the Risen Christ once again into our hearts and minds. Re-create us, so that we might faithfully and joyfully proclaim the Gospel of peace, through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.
