OUR STORY

DNS Publications began with the publishing of several vocational books to help a wider audience gain a better understanding of our way of life.

In 2011, after a series of excellent annual retreat conferences given by Fr. Walter Wagner, OP, on the Rule of St. Augustine, the nuns of the Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary agreed that a transcription of the lectures would make a welcome addition to the monastery library.

Once the text was completed, it was clear that it would be a valuable resource for more than just the nuns - so, the community decided to edit the volume and publish it. The result was ‘Dominican Life: A Commentary on the Rule of St. Augustine’ and its reception was so warm that a number of other works on the Dominican tradition quickly followed.

Since then, DNS Publications has been pleased to make 16 new and classic titles relating to the charism of the Dominican Order available to the public and continues to source and produce new works in the spirit of sharing the fruits of Dominican contemplation.

OUR LOGO

When the Order of Preachers was first founded, the followers of St. Dominic quickly became a fixture of medieval urban society.

Known for their lively zeal and persistence in teaching the truths of the Catholic Faith, townsfolk soon began referring to them as the ‘Hounds of the Lord’ - a play on the Latin ‘Domini’ (Lord) ‘canes’ (hounds or dogs) and their identity as ‘Dominicans’.

  • The Canonization Process of St. Margaret of Hungary

Translated by Sr. Mary Martin Jacobs, OP

Translated from the Latin text of the 1276 canonization process of St. Margaret of Hungary, this collection of 38 testimonies given by her sisters (originally in Hungarian), alongside similar contemporary witnesses, offers unique insight into the life of a 13th-century Dominican monastery, and a vibrant picture of the community in which St. Margaret lived out her call to holiness: a delightful portrait of a saint with her sisters.

  • The Golden Castle

    The Dominican Nuns of Summit

First published for the 1969 Golden Jubilee of the Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary, this charming tale tells the story of a very special little castle. (With brand new illustrations by the Dominican Nuns of Summit, NJ.)

  • Hidden in the Light: Dominic, Man of the Word of God

    Sr. Paola Panetta, OP

This little book was written during the Jubilee of the Dies Natalis of Saint Dominic and is the fruit of the wish to make Saint Dominic better known: in it the reader is guided by the memories of two of Dominic's disciples, Brother Jordan of Saxony and Sister Cecilia, through their memories, their personal experience of the journey with their master and friend. Both would later be beatified by the Church.
