Can you help us purchase new breviaries?
A new edition of the prayer book of the Church, The Liturgy of the Hours, is forthcoming!
This new edition reflects a new translation of the texts of the breviary, a project which began in 2012 and has been eagerly awaited for the past 14 years! We will begin praying with these books on Ash Wednesday of next year. We are very excited to be praying with the updated texts, but the cost to purchase enough sets for the community is nearly $10,000! We will need at least 35 four-volume sets (that’s 140 individual volumes!) to provide a set for each of the twenty-nine sisters in our community and have a few extras for young women entering the community and guests.
We would like to invite you to participate in this project to provide new liturgical books to the Sisters. You can donate a breviary or breviary set in memory of a loved one, or in honor of your family or someone special to you. The name you provide will be inscribed in the breviary, and the Sister who uses it can remember the name in her prayers.
Ascension Press has announced that there will be a small discount for religious communities placing a bulk order; however, they have not announced what that discount will be yet. All money donated will be used towards the purchase of the breviaries, and any amount we receive beyond our need we will donate to other communities who also need to purchase new breviaries and may be struggling to afford the cost.
The cost of a four-volume set of breviaries is $264.99 (not including shipping). We are in need of 35 four-volume sets, or 140 volumes total, and would be most grateful if you could assist us in providing these to our community.
